Q) I brought a hat for £37.99 not bad but what would be considered bad prices for jodphurs, boots and a decent polo shirt and gloves? The jods i have where £26.99 boots £32.99 and gloves £2.99 Also anyone know some decent prices for grooming equipment E.G comb, soft bristled brush, curry combs etc I live in the UK...Thanks

A) all the prices vary because there are different makes for different types of clothing and equipment, for example you could get a childs jokey hat for around £30 or you could get a hat designed for showjumping and got special inforsements and they can cost over £100. it is the same with clothing boots and everything else. can u just wash clothes w/ boiling hot water then iron them instead to get rid of the bed bugs?

Q) i have bed bugs and i dont want to dry clean all my delicates cus that would be too much money and they cant go in the washer and dryer cus they'll get rueined. they have a lot of decrotive things on them what else could i do? and would just putting them in water i boiled and hang drying them then iorning them kill the bed bugs and eggs? i hate these mother Fers! they city should be doing more to get ride of them, they've infested our cities and u can get them just from walking outside. eeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr!:( ok i know about the matress stuff and the exterminator is coming but they told us to wash all our clothes in hot water and then put them in the dryer on high heat for an hour but i thought i could boil water and just pour it on my delicates and then iron them when there dry. and no there in the closets not on the bed. but those are the exterminators instrustions. i live in mass.

A) Babe - washing the bed clothes is gonna make NO difference whatsoever. You need a new mattress and de-infestation. Where on earth are you from?!

Looking for recommendations for English riding clothes?

Q) I know about websites that sell the clothes, but I need some suggestions. I'm looking for a pair of riding breeches that cost less than $100 and that fit pretty good on us skinny girls with no hips. 8-( I'll probably wear 28L size. For riding shirts, do you have to wear a pin with it or a monogram? which is better? I do like some of the purple and pink shades, but don't know what looks best with my jacket.

A) Well, for me, I go to shops that sell riding clothes, try them on, find out what I need and like, and then buy on-line. It really stinks for the shop owners, but I do buy most of my supplies there, so they make some money off of me. I will recommend that you get a white shirt first, then you can wear any color jacket or breeches you like. Try to make as many of your clothes as possible function with other items. Pink goes well with most other clothes, but if you are showing under a "traditionalist", it WILL affect your placing! I always buy conservitive stuff first, then with my left over money, go a little crazy.

Where is a good place in Mass to buy plus sized riding clothes?

I recently saw a video of a chimpanzee dressed in a human's clothes, riding a skateboard. This made me ponder.

A) I don't think experiments of this nature have been performed. Researchers in this field I'm sure would run up against a lot of obstacles with relation to ethics. Sure would be interesting though! We don't know that creatures with a combined human/chimp genome would reproduce. Any number of things could cause a hybrid to be sterile. Also, let me make one thing perfectly clear: BESTIALITY IS ENTIRELY IRRELEVANT TO THIS DISCUSSION. Dictionary.com defines bestiality as sexual relations between a person and an animal; sodomy. Last time I checked, artificial insemination does not count as sexual relations. If it did, all vet students would be incarcerated. It is foolish and close-minded to think that all practices involving a human and an animal's reproductive organs are considered bestiality.

riding clothes?

Q) i ride western mostly team penning and roping that sort of thing. it is required to have a cowboy hat and a button up long sleeve shirt. im dirty blonde with brown eyes what colors or styes should i go with? and i have a sorrel horse what colors and styles of tack should i go with?

A) I think I would stay on the green/blue side. Sorrels look good in teal and that would show him off a little. If you went with the varying brown shades, you would make your hair and the horse match more. Black and gray would make your hair more colorful, and looks sharp. Stay away from the pinks/purples/reds. I think they clash with sorrel horses. Or else, go through your closet, pick out your favorite shirts, and if you see a similar color, match your horse tack to that!

English Riding Clothes?

Q) I need alot of help!! I need breeches, a short sleeved shirt, a jacket, boots, and a belt. I have no clue what sizes to get (i ride western and sizes look different). I dont even know where to get these things at. Please tell me a good, CHEAP place online where I can get this stuff for english showing!!!!!

A) Chicks saddlery is a great inexpensive place to get starter gear Also try Dover and State Line as mentioned I like to shop at Libertyville Saddle Shop in Chicago. They have delivery and a great website (you'll have to google it) and I find them to very affordable. What sizes in normal clothing are you? If you are unsure you can always call one of these tack catalogs (Dover has fantastic customer service, they once sent me a free leather halter as a thank you for my giant order) and talk to them about what size you ought to be. Otherwise if you can find a local retailer you can fit the sizes there.

What sort of clothes are best for horse riding?

Q) Please help! I have joined teh horse riding club of my school, and i need to know what sort of clothes are best for horse riding. The most comfortable! Horse rding is horrid for itchy legs!

A) Get a proper pair of jodhpurs, because riding in jeans is horrible. You get bruises and rashes from the rubbing and any metal clips etc. Or, wear soft trousers. Also, hard hats should be supplied but if they're not- get one! Its the single most important piece of equipment, and trust me, they work. Horka hats are good. Flat shoes and a loose t shirt are fine, unless you decide you want to take riding seriously, in which case you can buy boots and stuff at a later stage. Enjoy your riding....

What's the best clothes for sled riding?

A) http://www.thedistancedepot.com/ There are nice cool-silk shits,(total comfort)scrunchy hats, and more here. Endurance clothes differ from normal trail-wear in using more cool-max or "silvr" brands, which wick away moisture and help prevent blisters. Cotton is another favorite,layer with wool for cooler climate changes. Most people I ride with can stay 12 hours or more, in regular Levi type jeans,half chaps,layered shirts and ventilated helmet or hat. We're used to riding 8-12 hours a day and nothing blisters. If your in shape you shouldn't have a problem! And.. there is no shame in baby powder lol. Does your saddle fit? It helps to walk -run some on long rides. On the Tevis Cup Ride and similar 100 mile,60 mile etc endurance races,it is all about conditioning and cool-max /layered wear! Good luck
